Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior DevOps Engineer to join a Front Office Financial Markets technology team supporting critical electronic trading and pricing platforms within a global banking environment.

Working at the heart of a low-latency, business critical trading ecosystem, you'll collaborate directly with Quant Developers, Front Office stakeholders, engineering teams and infrastructure specialists to drive platform reliability, automation and continuous improvement.

This position offers exposure to major transformation programmes including platform modernisation, DevOps evolution, new trading capabilities and large-scale data centre migration initiatives.

Key Responsibilities;

DevOps & Platform Engineering

• Support and enhance mission-critical electronic trading platforms.

• Design, build and improve CI/CD pipelines and deployment processes.

• Develop automation solutions for application deployment and operational activities.

• Manage software delivery from source control through to production deployment.

• Partner with development teams to implement DevOps best practices.

Operational Excellence

• Perform advanced troubleshooting and root cause analysis.

• Investigate production, infrastructure and performance-related issues.

• Enhance monitoring, observability and platform stability.

• Drive automation initiatives to improve operational efficiency.

Project Delivery

• Support platform modernisation programmes.

• Contribute to strategic infrastructure transformation initiatives.

• Participate in major data centre migration projects.

• Work on new development and quant-led technology initiatives.

Stakeholder Interaction

• Engage directly with Front Office users, Quant Developers and engineering teams.

• Translate business challenges into practical technical solutions.

• Provide technical recommendations and challenge assumptions where appropriate.

• Build strong relationships across business and technology teams.

Required Skills & Experience

Essential

• Strong DevOps or Platform Engineering experience.

• Linux / Unix administration and troubleshooting expertise.

• CI/CD pipeline design, implementation and support.

• Azure DevOps (ADO).

• YAML pipeline development.

• Scripting experience using Python, Shell or Bash.

• Ansible, Puppet or similar automation/configuration management tools.

• Production support and incident investigation experience.

• Root cause analysis and problem-solving capability.

• Jenkins, Git, Jira and Confluence.

• Release and deployment management experience.

• Strong understanding of on-premise infrastructure environments.

Desirable

• Financial Markets, Investment Banking or Electronic Trading experience.

• Experience working with Quantitative Development teams.

• Low latency systems knowledge.

• Azure and/or AWS exposure.

• Monitoring tools such as Splunk, ELK Stack or Prometheus.

• Data centre migration experience.

• Background in SRE, Production Support or Infrastructure Engineering.
