Job Description

We’re seeking a senior Engineer to shape the future of a global developer platform for a large Investment Bank. This is a strategic, hands-on role focused on architectural influence, developer productivity, and cloud-native excellence with oversight of a team of four.

What You’ll Do

• Guide platform architecture to maximise developer efficiency, scalability, and security
• With an engineering background you will be working closely with Python development teams
• Influence cloud-native design across AWS (EC2, ECS, EKS, Lambda, S3, EBS, EFS, etc)
• Act as SME for Kubernetes—cluster design, scaling, and operational best practices
• Champion DevOps, CI/CD, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, CloudFormation)
• Engage directly with developers to streamline workflows and reduce friction
• Provide hands-on guidance across GitLab, Jenkins, SonarQube, and Python tooling (Conda, Poetry)
• Collaborate with engineering leads and product teams to align platform capabilities with business goals
• Stay ahead of trends in cloud-native tooling, AI/ML infra, and DevSecOps

What You Bring

• Proven experience influencing platform architecture in large-scale environments
• Deep technical expertise in AWS, Kubernetes, and containerised workloads
• Excellent Python coding abilities
• Strong grasp of DevOps, CI/CD, and developer tooling
• Hands-on experience with GitLab, Jenkins, SonarQube, and Python ecosystems
• Excellent communication skills across technical and business audiences
• Financial services experience is a plus, but not essential
