Role Summary

This hybrid role blends technology and business expertise, offering the opportunity to develop trading algorithms for an equity derivatives desk. The successful candidate will work closely with traders to understand business needs and translate them into real-time applications.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop trading algorithms tailored to equity derivatives.
  • Collaborate with traders to refine and implement desk strategies.
  • Analyse large datasets to support algorithmic decisions.
  • Write high-performance C++ code for real-time trading systems.
  • Contribute to experimental algo development and transition into the quant division.

Day-to-Day Activities

  • Engage with traders regularly (3+ interactions per week).
  • Participate in the development of new algorithms.
  • Utilise extensive data resources to support trading decisions.
  • Operate within a collaborative, desk-facing team environment.

Required Skills & Experience

Technical Must-Haves

  • Strong C++ programming skills.
  • Experience with real-time applications.
  • Advanced data analysis capabilities with large datasets.

Technical Nice-to-Haves

  • Master’s or PhD in STEM (Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science).
  • Familiarity with machine learning and optimisation theory.
  • Competency in Python and Rust.

Business Must-Haves

  • Solid understanding of financial markets and equity derivatives.
  • Strong communication skills for trader interaction.

Compensation

  • £125,000 basic salary + performance-based incentives.
